About Us

The GTFO Company was rebranded in January of 2020, and the online store gtf-outside.com went live on April 26, 2020.  What began as a line of t-shirts hoodies, and hats, quickly evolved into the start of a movement.
“We wanted to go beyond providing a line of clothing,” says co-owner Melissa Swain.  “We wanted to be more”.  Run both by Curtis and Melissa, they wanted to get people's attention by send a bold statement to the world to Get The F* Outside, since being active and being outdoors contributes to a healthier & happier mind. "We wanted to raise mental health awareness, create a safe place for mental health conversations, and encourage people to make time to go outside.
"Get The F Outside" is a pretty blunt message, but that's exactly what is needed. We aren't saying you need to be physically fit, run a marathon, hike a crazy mountain. That's not us either! Just figure out what your version of getting outside looks like to you, and make time for it. You deserve it!"
GTF Outside also gives back by donating back to mental health facilities and MH youth organizations. Curtis and Melissa also donate time and funds to cleaning up the environment and protecting the Grizzly Bear by donating a portion of the proceeds to The Grizzly Bear Foundation.

Our Mission
To provide affordable quality clothing and accessories through our online store for people of all ages that enhance the overall outdoor experience and is visibly recognizable through the brand, GTF Outside (Get the F* Outside).  GTF Outside will also responsibly raise awareness of the benefits, both mentally and physically, of actively being outside all year round. We are working towards ending the silence around mental health.

Why Mental Health
We've struggled with mental health disorders within our family & friends, and after lots of research and being outside more it came to us that getting outdoors more often helps refresh the mind, reduce stress levels, decrease depression and help with anxiety.  Nature soothes your soul.

Why The Grizzly
I (Curtis) have always had a fear & fascination with the animal. The Grizzly Bear Foundation helps to protect them and keep a healthy population.
The Grizzly is connected to Native American people and for myself having some native blood running through me tied me to the bear.  For Natives, bears are a symbol of wisdom, and often featured as leaders, teachers or guardians.
Our Core Values
A friend of ours passed away in September of 2019.  He taught us to be true to ourselves and the value of Love, Self Discipline, Honesty, Forgiveness, Generosity, Faith and Patience.  This is what we try to follow in our lives.  If we do, it will lead us in the right direction in our lives. Our ambassadors need to believe in similar things and the main one of just loving people and acting in a kind manner to your fellow humans, and to our Mother Earth.

The Environment
We have garbage flooding our communities, parks and streets as well as our oceans. No one really talks about the amount of garbage being dumped in our own communities.  So, we decided to give out high visibility GTF Outside Clean Up Crew t-shirts to anyone wanting to host an event.  We also try to attend as many as we can.   If you’re interested in organizing a cleanup in your community, please reach out to us.

Future Efforts
Our goal is to get into all clothing and accessories for outdoor activities, so storm gear, backpacks, winter jackets, jogging pants etc. We will be attending GTFO clean up your community events all over Canada and the US as well as hosting new events in the mountains of Alberta, in which we will teach personal development, hiking skills etc.  We will have ambassadors in attendance telling their stories and being team leaders.   Our goals for the next 2 years are to be completely focused on GTF Outside full time.
